THEFT & CDS ARREST, BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On Sunday, June 11, 2023 at approximately 4:49 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business on Queen City Drive for a theft that just occurred.  The staff reported that the suspect stole merchandise and left the store.  The suspect was located and identified as Amanda Swauger.   Police learned that Swauger also had an active bench warrant for her arrest.  The warrant was issued as the result of Swauger violating probation.  She was originally charged with Fraud-Per. Ident. Avoid Prosecution, False Statement to Peace Officer, Obstructing & Hindering, CDS: Possess Paraphernalia, and Possess Contraband- Place of Confinement.  She was arrested and searched. Swauger was found to be in possession of CDS paraphernalia.  She was issued citations for the theft and CDS paraphernalia.  She was served with the warrant and transported to Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
