Recently, troopers from 6 barracks – JFK Memorial Highway, Golden Ring, Forestville, Cumberland, Berlin, and Hagerstown conducted work zone safety initiatives across Maryland. During these initiatives, troopers issued 130 total citations and warnings as well as 1 arrest for suspected DUI. Part of the enforcement effort was Maryland’s Move Over Law that requires drivers to move over when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying warning signals – including hazard warning lights, road flares, or other caution signals including traffic cones, caution signs, or non-vehicular warning signs.
