Two Arrest Warrants and two Bench Warrants served to Cumberland Man

On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served two District Court arrest warrants and two Circuit Court bench warrants on Jasmond Metheny.  One arrest warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on August 8, 2022.  Officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of W. Third Street to assist deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office with a foot pursuit of Jasmond Metheny.  Metheny had an active warrant for his arrest.  Metheny was located and taken into custody on Arch Street after resisting arrest.  The other arrest warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on October 23, 2022.  On this date at approximately 5:54 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Arch Street for a domestic assault in progress.  Officers located a male subject, identified as Jasmond Metheny, hiding in a closet. Metheny had an active arrest warrant.  It was learned that Metheny had assaulted a female subject inside the residence.  Metheny was arrested and began causing a disturbance, pulling away from officers and refusing to let them search his person.   Police filed for additional charges against Metheny at District Court.  One bench warrant was issued as the result of Metheny failing to appear in court on November 29, 2022.  Metheny was originally charged with Trespass: Private Property.  The second bench warrant was issued as the result of Metheny failing to appear in court on November 29, 2022.  He was originally charged with CDS Possession with the Intent to Distribute Narcotics.  Metheny was arrested and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is currently being held without bond.
