January 12th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant and two bench warrants on Nellie Miller.  The arrest warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on November 6, 2022.  On this date at approximately 4:19 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of W. First Street for a female subject digging through a dumpster.  The officer contacted her and obtained her identifying information.  The officer later discovered that the female had provided him with false information to avoid being arrested on an active warrant.  The female subject was positively identified as Nellie Miller.  The officer filed charges against Miller at the District Court of Allegany.  One bench warrant was issued as the result of Miller failing to comply with an order of the court.  Miller was originally charged with Theft: $100 to under $1500.  The second bench warrant was issued as the result of Miller failing to appear in court on June 11, 2021.  She was originally charged with Theft less than $100.  Miller was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner for her initial hearing.  Miller was held without bond for the fail to appear bench warrant and two $2,500 percentage bonds for the other warrants.
