Two Arrested After Ellerslie Armed Robbery

On 10.23.2016 at approximately 5:15 PM Deputies of The Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to a business on Ellerslie Road in Ellerslie Maryland for a reported armed robbery.
 

It was reported that a female entered the business and threatened to use a gun and demanded money from an employee then fled the area. The complainant was able to provide a description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.
 

Deputies observed the vehicle traveling from the area while responding and effected a traffic stop on Mechanic Street in Cumberland with the assistance of Cumberland City Police and the Maryland State Police.
 

Pursuant to the investigation deputies arrested and charged 53 year old Michael Duane Tipton and 46 year old Kathleen Jannette Williams, both of Cumberland.

Both suspects are being charged with Armed Robbery, Assault and various other charges relating to the incident.
 

Both suspects were also found to be in possession of trace amounts of suspected crack cocaine.
 

Williams initially attempted to disguise her identity,however once identified it was learned that she was wanted by Allegany County Law Enforcement on two outstanding warrants. Additional charges are pending.
 

A C3I Detective also responded and assisted with the investigation.
