Two Arrested in Large Drug Seizure After Traffic Stop

On Thursday, February 3, 2022 an officer with the Cumberland Police Department was on patrol when he observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction.  When he stopped the vehicle and contacted the two occupants he observed several indicators of criminal behavior.  The officer requested a K9 to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle.  The K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance in the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted.  Based on the search, a quantity of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia were recovered.  Shawn Alan Mullaney, age 56 and Melvin Roy Redhead, age 49 both of Cumberland, MD were placed under arrest.  Mullaney was charged with 2 counts of CDS Possession-not Marijuana, Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute, CDS Possession-Large Amount, Conspire to Possess CDS-Large Amount, and Conspiracy to Possess CDS with the Intent to Distribute.  Redhead was charged with CDS Possession-not Marijuana, Conspire to Possess CDS-Large Amount, Conspiracy to Possess CDS-not Marijuana.  Both were taken before the District Court Commissioner for their initial appearance and were held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Charges:  2 counts of CDS Possession-not Marijuana, Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute, CDS Possession-Large Amount, Conspire to Possess CDS-Large Amount, and Conspiracy to Possess CDS with the Intent to Distribute

 

Arrested:  Melvin Roy Redhead   Age 49    Cumberland, MD

Charges:  CDS Possession-not Marijuana, Conspire to Possess CDS-Large Amount, Conspiracy to Possess CDS-not Marijuana
