On Thursday, June 1, 2023 at approximately 7:00 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 500 block of Bedford Street for a disturbance. When police arrived, there were several people in the street arguing about an assault that had just occurred. The alleged victim reported that he was assaulted by Marquis King. The alleged victim and multiple witnesses advised that King had strangled the victim. Officers observed that the victim had sustained injuries. During the investigation, a female subject identified as Hailey Moon, began causing a disturbance and refused to listen to officers. Moon was placed under arrest and later released on a criminal citation. After further investigation, King was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
