Maryland US Senator Chris Van Hollen spoke on the Senate floor recently asking that his amendment to keep the proposed FBI headquarters in Greenbelt be reconsidered. Van Hollen told other Senators the amendment was adopted through bipartisan support, but a re-vote caused it to fail along party lines because of fear-mongering…

   

“It didn’t happen because members of the appropriations committee, Republicans and Democrats didn’t think that was the right thing to do to preserve what we had set out before and make sure that the men and women have a level 5 security headquarters. We did it because the President of the United States was going to throw a fit if that provision stayed on.”
