On Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police arrested William Paul Aldridge, 36, of Cumberland MD. Aldridge was arrested on an active Arrest Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court for an incident that occurred on December 9th, 2021. During that incident, the Cumberland Police responded to a business in the 1000 block of Virginia Ave for the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was learned that a male subject had entered the business and displayed a handgun to the employee, demanding money. After obtaining an undisclosed sum of money, the subject then fled the area. Since the initial incident, investigation has continued by members of the Combined County Criminal Investigation (C3I) unit which led to identifying Aldridge as a suspect in the matter. After an extensive investigation, an application for charged was filed and an arrest warrant issued. Aldridge was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.
