Community volunteers will be participating in a national emergency communications exercise this weekend. Amateur radio operators trained in emergency communications assist their local communities when disaster strikes such as severe weather, earthquakes are man-made disasters. WCBC news spoke with Allegany County Emergency Services Director, James Pyles about the capabilities of the ECOMM amateur radio emergency communications vehicle with capabilities of communicating around Western Maryland and or around the world… 

Amateur Radio Field Day, a National Emergency exercise will take place Saturday, June 24th beginning at 2PM and running for 24 hours at 599 Georges Creek Blvd, formally the old LaVale swimming pool.
