West Virginia Divesting Chinese Investments

October 10th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

West Virginia’s Investment Management Board is working to enact a divestment plan encouraged by state treasurer Larry Pack that would divest the state’s funds from Chinese-owned companies. The move is to ensure that investments are not in companies with interest in adversarial countries. Pack says the IMB has been working on making the divestment official for some time…

“This is an issue we have been talking about at the Investment Management Board for over a year. We’ve also done so previously at the Bureau of Treasury Investments so we’re going to do everything we can to protect the investments for West Virginians and make sure that we don’t invest in companies owned by the Communist Chinese party.”
