Policing within the new Baltimore Street corridor has been a challenge. More vagrancy is being reported in the area with people having public arguments and disturbing shoppers as well as those taking advantage of outside dining. Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC the police department’s foot patrols in the area have increased over the past year, along with arrests, but more can be done…
“Of the last 2,000 foot patrols in the City of Cumberland, 1,800 of them were in the Baltimore Street, Centre, Liberty Street area. But we’re looking to see what we can do to increase it, to have a better presence.”
