West Virginia Working to Avoid “Clawback”

March 5th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

The State of West Virginia continues to work with the federal government to come to a settlement on a potential clawback of COVID funding.  Over $465 million is on the table, mostly for education funding that was sent to county school boards.  Last year, the state received a waiver, basically for not spending the money fast enough. Governor Jim Justice issued a statement Monday that there is no allegation of money being mishandled and negotiations with the Federal Department of Education are ongoing and a positive resolution is expected soon.
