The wife of the late Senator Ed Mason has passed away. Sara Jane (Dickerhoof) Mason, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was employed by Sacred Heart Hospital, and later, as a public health nurse at the Allegany County Health Department, from which she retired after 20 years of service.
Jane was a past president of the Junior Women's Civic Club for the year 1965-66, was a lifelong member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and later, the Western Maryland Hospital Auxiliary. She served on the local lay board of the March of Dimes and received a Gold Red Cross pin for working with Red Cross Blood Collection Program.
Services will be private, and interment will be in Shrine of Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery at a later date. Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A. is in charge of arrangements.
