April 19th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey said the Women’s Health Center of West Virginia has dropped its lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the state’s abortion law.  The lawsuit was filed by the Women’s Health Center of West Virginia against the president and secretary of the West Virginia Board of Medicine. The Attorney General intervened on behalf of the state to defend the new abortion statute. The clinic filed a notice of voluntary dismissal at the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia in Charleston on Monday. “My office stands ready to defend this clearly constitutional law to the fullest should this lawsuit be re-filed, or against any other legal challenge,” Attorney General Morrisey said. The Women’s Health Center is planning on opening an abortion clinic on Route 220 in Rawlings in June of this year.
