WV Federal Prison to be Destination of DC Area Inmates

April 27th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

A federal prison less than an hour from Cumberland reportedly will be the destination of several hundred inmates from the DC area and prisons which have had Coronavirus outbreaks. Richard Heldreth is President of Local 420 of the American Federation of Government workers…

Heldreth says the Hazelton prison has not had any cases of COVID-19 thus far due to observing proper precautions…

Several local residents are employed at the Federal Prison at Hazelton, which is along Interstate 68 just over the West Virginia line.

Now there is a GREAT idea, let’s take prisoners who may or may not been exposed to the virus and ship them all over the country and possibly infect more people while we are “locked in” to stop the spread, why didn’t I think of that?

Hmm, maybe because locking them in doesn’t stop the spread. A few of my neighbors work in corrections. How about we pay them some respect now that their lives are even more endangered now. These people are American heroes who have stepped up to put their lives on the line and now the lives of their families.

    But forget them right?

That was sarcasm. About moving prisoners, nothing to do with the staff that work there. They include some of my friends.
