On January 21st, 2023, at approximately 1:19 p.m. the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of Yale Street for an assault. Upon arrival officers made contact with the victim who advised that they had been struck in the face by Peter Butler. Officers observed injuries to the victim, which were consistent with being struck in the face by a closed fist. The officers contacted Peter Butler and continued their investigation. Butler was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to central booking. He was later seen by a District Court commissioner and released on his own recognizance.
