City Having Sealed Bid Property Sale

The City of Cumberland has City-owned property available for purchase through a Sealed Bid Sale.  The application for the sale evaluates the vision and plan for a property in combination with an offer price.  The goal is to return properties to the private sector for their highest and best use. Trump Affects Hogan Results In County

Allegany County has traditionally been a Republican-heavy voter area.  In Tuesday’s Primary Election, Larry Hogan narrowly missed defeat in the county by fellow Republican candidate Robin Ficker by just 16 votes, according to initial poll numbers. WARRANTS SERVED

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant and an arrest warrant on Shawn Holloway Jr.  The bench warrant was issued as the result of Holloway failing to appear in court.  He was originally charged with Theft less than $100.  The arrest warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on May 9, 2024.  On this date at approximately 1:11 PM, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a theft complaint.  Police contacted the staff who reported that Holloway stole merchandise from the…

BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Craig Wilson Jr.  The warrant was issued as the result of Wilson failing to appear in court.  He was originally charged with driving on a suspended license.  Wilson was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and posted a $1,000 percentage bond. Water Service Interruption Planned for South Cumberland Saturday

From the City of Cumberland – On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:00 pm until Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 7:00 am, ALL residents below the Virginia Avenue underpass to the Wiley Ford bridge will experience an interruption of water service for a valve replacement. SHA Set Enhanced Patrols on Highways

The Maryland State Highway Administration is ready to assist hundreds of thousands of travelers “Reach the Beach” this summer by improving the driving experience along state roads heading to the Eastern Shore. The SHA has improved the road surface on east and westbound US 50 and the Ocean City Expressway. The Coordinated Highways Action Response Team or CHART will enhance patrols on the Eastern Shore beginning May 18. These enhanced patrols will help disabled vehicles, remove road debris, and assist with clearing crashes to keep lanes open and traffic moving.

Maryland Woman Pleads Guilty to Conspiring to Destroy Power Grid

A Maryland woman has pleaded guilty to conspiring to destroy the Baltimore Region power grid.  Sara Clendaniel of Catonsville spent months plotting, planning and taking steps to inflict grave damage to Maryland’s power grid in furtherance of her white supremacist ideology. She and Brandon Russell who is awaiting trial believed in “accelerationism,” a white supremacist concept that the current system is irreparable, therefore violent action is necessary to precipitate societal and government collapse. Plans included taking out at least five power substations around Baltimore.

Allegany County Sheriff’s Arrest report

Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police have combined resources to target open and active warrants. As a result, the following individuals have been apprehended. Monday, May 13, 2024 Joshua Bookheimer, 32 of Frostburg, was served a Grand Jury Indictment for the following charges: 2 Counts of CDS: Possession-Not Cannabis, 2 Counts of CDS: Possession with intent to Distribute-Narcotics, CDS: Distribution: Narcotics, and CDS: Distribute-Other. Bookheimer was released on his own recognizance after a bail review in Circuit Court. Maryland’s Primary Election Results

Maryland’s Primary Election saw a bit of a stunner with Prince Georges County Executive Angela Alsobrooks pulling off the win for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate from Congressman David Trone. Trone did have the majority of votes in Allegany County.  Governor Wes Moore had supported Alsobrooks’ campaign. On the Republican side, it was no real surprise that Larry Hogan came out on top, although Robin Ficker came very close to beating Hogan in Allegany County, falling  short by less than 25 votes with all precincts reporting.  In the District 6 Congressional race, Neil Parrot was declared the winner with…
