Accident on 220 North and Robbery in Rawlings Overnight

An Everett, Pa., man being chased by Pennsylvania State Police southward on U.S. Route 220 early Thursday crossed the state line where Maryland law enforcement officers successfully deployed tire deflation devices. According to Pennsylvania State Police, Joseph Clingerman, wrecked the truck he was driving. He was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, where he was in critical condition at 11 a.m., according to Maryland State Police. Pennsylvania authorities said that unauthorized use of a 2001 Dodge truck was reported to them Wednesday. Thursday morning at 2:40 a.m., PSP troopers observed the vehicle and began pursuit. According to the Cumberland Times News, Allegany County Office of the Sheriff joined MSP in responding to the section of U.S. 220 between Interstate 68 and the Pennsylvania state line. Pennsylvania has charged Clingerman with unauthorized use of a vehicle and fleeing or attempting to allude police. Also responding were MSP medevac helicopter Trooper 5 and firefighters from Bedford Road, Bowman’s Addition and Baltimore Pike as well as Bowman’s Addition ambulance. Maryland State Police are investigating a robbery in Rawlings at about 1 AM.  There are reports that two armed men broke in to a home on Circle Drive.
