Sources Say Valentine Not Shade To Be Commissioner President

Although the new board of Allegany County Commissioners won’t officially take office until next month- there are some early signs of potential friction. On December 18th, Jake Shade along with incumbents Creade Brodie Jr. and Bill Valentine will be sworn into office, each having been elected to a four year term. Although not policy, a tradition in recent years has been to have the top vote getter appointed as President of the Board of Commissioners. While Shade, 21, was the top vote getter in both the primary and general elections- sources tell WCBC News that Valentine, not Shade will get that post. It is a position voted on by the commissioners and will occur after the swearing in ceremony. Shade tells WCBC News that he believes his vote totals and tradition should see him as president…
