ACM Library Hosts Black History Month Exhibit

The Allegany College of Maryland Library is currently hosting a “Power and Beauty of African and African American Art” display on loan from the African American Historical Association of Western Maryland as part of its celebration of Black History Month.

College Library staff have added profiles of celebrated African American authors and artists, books and multimedia items for all ages, from Faith Ringgold’s beloved children’s book, Tar Beach, to information on celebrated painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. Displayed items on loan in the Donald L. Alexander Library include beautifully carved wood and ceramic pieces as well as recreations of Egyptian sculptures.

The library’s current hours are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
