ACTA Takes Foote To Task Over Comments

During Tuesday’s meeting of the Allegany County Board of Education, representatives of the Teachers Association took Board member Wayne Foote to task for comments he made last week on WCBC radio pertaining to developments at Mountain Ridge High School.  Foote responded to questions from WCBC News regarding whether or not enough safe guards are in place in the public school system to protect students. Those questions generated as a result of the arrest last year of a math teacher there on charges of inappropriate sexual conduct with two teenage female students.  Foote suggested that the teacher’s actions were common knowledge in the Frostburg community, and it’s likely that at least some faculty or administration at the school were aware and perhaps opted not to get involved.  ACTA President John Reuschlein told Foote that he owed the teachers an apology. He suggested some teachers themselves would have liked to have confronted Foote themselves at the meeting, but had concerns…
