Brodie Stays Supportive of Dan’s Mountain Wind Farm Plans

February 24th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Dans Mountain Windforce LLC has filed for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity with the Maryland Public Service Commission which, if approved, would allow the company to construct a 17-turbine wind farm on Dan's Mountain. Its been a drawn out battled between the company and a group of property owners strongly opposed to the project. Those citizens received a victory of sorts in December when the Allegany County Board of of Zoning appeals denied an application for variances and a special exception for the project. A spokesperson for Dans Mountain Windforce said "the project will have minimal environmental impact, provide economic benefits to the state and will have an important, positive impact on the stability and reliability of the electrical system." While the Allegany County Commissioners did not take an official position for or against the project, Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr has made it clear he is supportive of seeing the windfarm developed. He feels the project could have some immediate and long lasting economic development benefits for the region. The commissioner has already proposed a plan for allocation of the windfarm revenue stream that would be created- and says he would hate to see a small group of opponants kills the effort…
