City Police Make Robbery Arrest

On August 20, 2019, the Cumberland City Police served an Arrest Warrant on Matthew Tomczewski, age 27, Cumberland, Maryland. The Warrant stemmed from an investigation into a robbery that occurred in the area of Baltimore and Greene Street.  Officers investigating the case learned that the victim was on foot in the area when several individuals whom he knew including Tomczewski approached him.  The subjects then assaulted him stealing several items from him during the assault. At the conclusion of the investigating officer applied for charges on Tomczewski in District Court. A Warrant was issued charging him with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault 2nd degree, theft under $100, affray, and disorderly conduct.  Tomczewski was served with the Warrant and taken to District Court for his Initial Appearance. Following his hearing he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bail.
