Coal Miners Report Positive Meeting with McConnell on Pension Fund

A contingent of retired coal miners, many from West Virginia, that has long been pressing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to back a fix for their soon-to-be insolvent pension fund, said it had a positive meeting with the Kentucky Republican. Phil Smith, director of government affairs for the United Mine Workers of America, said that he believes the Majority Leader is open to doing something to solve the pension dilemma. West Virginia’s senate representatives Democrat Joe Manchin and Republican Shelly Moore Capito have urged McConnell to take action…
