Cumberland Police Arrest Two On Assault Charges

On Tuesday, April 16th, 2019, the Cumberland City Police responded to the 800 block of Gephart Dr for the report of an assault in progress. Upon the officers arrival on scene, multiple people were observed coming from the home yelling for help. Officers entered the home and found two male subjects with visible signs of injury, none of which needed medical attention. Upon speaking to the male victim as well as other witnesses, it was determined that Christopher Peter Butler had attacked the victim inside the home after Butler had accused them of stealing money from him. As a result of the investigation, Butler was placed under arrest for assault and taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Butler was held on $2500 bond.

***Adult Arrest***

On Tuesday, April 16th, 2019, the Cumberland City Police responded to the 100 block of Offutt St for the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female victim and another witness inside the residence. The victim and witness advised a verbal altercation had occurred with a Dustin James Beal inside the residence. It is then alleged that Beal then became violent and began to choke the victim. Based on the investigation and the victim’s visible signs of injury, Beal was placed under arrest for assault and taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Beal was held on $2500 bond.
