First COVID-19 cases reported in West Virginia State Prison System

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice on Tuesday announced the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state’s prison system with an inmate and a correctional officer at the same facility testing positive.  Justice, during his daily COVID-19 briefing, said that a 62 year-old inmate at the Huttonsville Correctional Center in Randolph County has tested positive- and a part-time correctional officer at the facility has also tested positive. The two are not believed to be connected. In response, Justice said the area of the facility where the cases were identified will see all inmates and staff tested immediately, and that ultimately could lead to everyone at the prison being tested…
