Fort Hill and Allegany Honored at Board Meeting

As a result of recent weather related postponements, the Allegany County Board of Education conducted three public sessions on Thursday, as well as a closed/executive session- all were held at the career center. The highlight of the board’s regular monthly business meeting were students recognitions going to Fort Hill and Allegany High Schools. The Fort Hill Football Team was honored for its fourth Consecutive Year as Maryland Class 1A Champions: with individual awards presented to the Offensive Player of the Homecoming Game: Raen Smith; and the Defensive Player of that Game: Nathaniel Graves. Fort Hill Principal Joe Carter accepted on behalf of the school. Allegany’s band also received honors as the Marching Band won its 17th consecutive chapter championship and placed third  at Atlantic Coast Championships as a gold medal finalist scoring 95.65. Band Director Larry Jackson accepted on behalf of the band.
