Free State Legal And Equality Maryland Groups To Merge

At an event in Baltimore last week, the formal announcement was made of plans to merge Free State Legal, and Equality Maryland. These are two groups which have lobbied for gay lesbian and transgendered rights, and have represented people in discrimination suits. These groups lobbied for the passage of marriage equality, approved by lawmakers and voters in Maryland in 2012. The merger comes one year after the Supreme Court decision legalizing same sex marriage in all 50 states, and two weeks after the Orlando night club massacre. Patrick Paschall, executive director of Free State Legal told Maryland's News This Week that the merger will be enable both groups to help LGBTQ people who have been victims of employment, or insurance discrimination. Paschall says that type of discrimination is still present, in spite of marriage equality…
