Gas prices falling but Cumberland remains highest in state

January 18th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Drivers across Maryland saw gas prices dip this week, following more than a week of crude oil price fluctuation and geopolitical concerns between the U.S. and Iran. Crude oil inventories decreased but gasoline supplies, including those along the East coast, increased, allowing Maryland gas prices to fall six cents in the last week.  The gas price average in Maryland today is $2.48, which is down six cents in the last week, up three cents from last month, and up 26 cents from this date last year. Cumebrland prices are also down from last week but remain the highest in the state at $2.72 a gallon.

Today’s national gas price average is $2.56, down three cents in the last week, up a penny in the last month and up 32 cents from this time last year.

Hauling the fuel from it’s source up, up the mountains, to the middle of nowhere should not cost more (sarcasm)! And the extra $2.50 I spend weekly has me rethinking my retirement plan (more sarcasm). Get a 40 hour per week job folks

Was in Eastern/ Central (Maryland) last weekend and prices there were 2.39-2.45 per gallon. I don’t believe shipping to here should result in .40 difference in prices. We’re getting gouged and I call for our reps in State and Federal government to look into this. Heck you can up the mountain to Pilot in Grantsville and get has for .20 less so the shipping argument holds no bearing in our high prices!
