Maryland Lawmaker to introduce revenge porn bill

November 5th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

A Maryland lawmaker wants to criminalize the release of non-consensual disclosure of sexually explicit pictures and videos online. Del. Jon Cardin held a news conference last week to talk about the measure he plans to introduce. Cardin says people are releasing privately shared and sexually explicit pictures on public websites specifically designed for vengeful purposes or to humiliate former partners. The measure would make it a felony to intentionally disclose in a public way a sexually explicit image of another person without their consent to release that image. The crime would be punishable by up to five years in prison or a $25,000 fine, or both.  Cardin talked about the large percentage of people who are vulnerable to what is now being referred too as “revenge porn”…
