MD School Safety Legislative Package Does Not Include Armed Security Officers

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s school safety legislative package approved by the general assembly included revenue to improve school safety by securing doors and windows, as well as adding metal detectors, panic buttons and more cameras. It also calls for a mandatory annual school by school safety assessment.  One item that did not make it through was calling for an armed security officer in every school in the state of Maryland. Delegate Jason Buckel said that would have come with a $100 to $200 million price tag- and its not something the lawmakers chose to fund at this time…
