More Headaches For Ocean City Evacuees

WBAL reports that there are some added headaches for evacuees from Ocean City during Hurricane Irene. The state is investigating reports that hotels and other businesses are alleged to be refusing to refund money to those who had to beat a hasty retreat last weekend. They were ordered to leave under mandatory evacuations ahead of the big storm. Now those who paid for a room or condo stay find out real estate companies and some hotels may classify it as a cancellation and they get little or no refund. Director of the mediation unit of the attorney general’s office suggests trying first to negotiate with the hotel or realty firm. Or, Assistant Attorney General Karen Straughn said, if you used a credit card ,you have recourse of disputing the bill…
