November 28th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland State Police have increased patrols over the Thanksgiving holiday to deter impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers.  According to a press release, police will use a variety of initiatives to keep traffic moving, to respond quickly to highway incidents and take appropriate action if violations occur. .  Troopers from all 23 Maryland State Police barracks will be out on the roads. Several barracks in the state are using grant money from the Maryland Highway Safety Office to put additional troopers on patrol. In Western Maryland, troopers are expected to target efforts on Interstate 70, as well as Interstate 68, with an eye on commercial vehicles and impaired drivers.  Motorists are asked not to engage in distracted, impaired or aggressive driving.
