Myers Sees Minimum Wage Hike Bad for Business

December 5th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley (D) last month launched an online petition drive to raise the state’s minimum wage- and local lawmakers, although opposed to the idea, believe there will enough votes in the general  assembly to pass.  O’Malley’s office has been working on a bill to introduce in next year’s legislative session, and Delegate Leroy Myers says all indications are the governor’s initiative will call for a minimum wage of $11.25 an hour-  a significant hike over the current $7.25 an hour.  Myers, who owns and operates a construction company in Washington County, says a minimum wage hike will be bad for business.
