Narcotics Task Force Interdiction Leads to Multiple Arrests

On 03/11/21 Officers with the Cumberland Police Department and Troopers with the Maryland State Police in conjunction with the Allegany County State's Attorney's Office and Allegany County Narcotics Task Force conducted a drug interdiction assignment within the City of Cumberland. As a result of the interdiction 40 traffic stops were conducted resulting in 47 citations and 23 warnings. 7 K-9 scans were completed. Two search and Seizure warrants were executed. Officers made three misdemeanor arrests for possession not marijuana and two felony arrests for Possession with Intent to Distribute not marijuana and Distribution of not marijuana. One handgun was seized and an unspecified amount of US Currency was also seized.  Three applications will be filled with the District Court of Maryland, Allegany County for distribution of not marijuana, Conspiracy to distribute not marijuana, and possession of not marijuana. 

 

During the interdiction officers observed a hand to hand drug transaction take place in the area of Baltimore Ave and Front Street. As a result officers placed 43 year old Kelly Lynn Clark of Cumberland under arrest and charged her with Possession with Intent to Distribute not Marijuana and possession not marijuana. 

 

Also during the interdiction officers observed another hand to hand drug transaction take place in the 400blk of Bond St. As a result a Search and Seizure Warrant was executed in the 400 blk of Columbia St which resulted in the recovery of suspected Fentanyl, Cocaine, and a Firearm. Officer's charged 45 year old Carl Nelson Bohrer of Cumberland with Possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl/Heroin, PWID Cocaine, possession of Fentanyl/Heroin, Possession of Cocaine, Handgun possession during the use of a drug trafficking crime. 

 

On 03/11/21 at 1839hrs Officers working the assignment observed a vehicle with a MVA registration violation. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the 600blk of Hilltop Dr. The vehicle failed to stop and began to flee from officers. Officers discontinued the pursuit at this time and a short time later officers observed the operator running through a yard and into an apartment building. Officers made contact with the homeowner at this location and located the subject in an upstairs bedroom. Officers took 28 year old Andre Lynn Ware of Cumberland into custody and charged him with fleeing and eluding and other traffic related violations.
