New Animal Shelter Plans Discussed

February 29th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Stoiber and Associates architecture representatives spent Monday and Tuesday in Cumberland meeting members of the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation to discuss plans for a new state of the art facility for adopting animals. Following meeting with Becky McClarran of the foundation and Karl Brubaker, director of the Allegany County Animal Shelter, Jeff Stoiber talked with WCBC News about the process which is in the preliminary stages. The current shelter is located on a 3 1/2-acre site on Furnace Street. A new facility could be built there, or somewhere else in the county if a more suitable location became available through donated land- although efforts to find alternate locations have not panned out to date. The exact price tag  of the new animal shelter is not yet known but the project will be funded by private donations. Stoiber says nothing concrete has been decided, with the early talks focusing on what is desired by the Foundation and Shelter officials…
