New Years Eve To Bring Additional Patrols

December 30th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Just a couple of days remaining in 2018, and plans for New Years Eve are in place, not only in bars and restaurants, but in several churches as well. Because of the association of drinking with the holiday, Maryland State Police, Allegany and Mineral County Deputies, municipal police forces, and other nearby law enforcement will have additional patrols.

If you've been to the Ball Drop on the Downtown Cumberland Mall, you'll remember fireworks being launched from the Baltimore Street bridge. That tradition will continue Monday night into Tuesday, as we ring in 2019. With that in mind, access to downtown via the Baltimore Street bridge will be blocked New Year's Eve beginning at 9 PM.
