Peg Lynch Dies At 98

August 2nd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Peg Lynch died in Massachusetts the other day at aged 98.

Ms. Lynch is credited as creating the sitcom.  She debuted on the NBC Blue Network in 1944 with a show entitled "Ethel and Albert."  15 minutes a day, five days a week, which is the same schedule she had in Cumberland in 1942 and 1943, when the program aired on WTBO.

Eventually, the show moved to television, first with NBC in 1950, and then ABC in the mid 50s.

Peg Lynch wrote and starred in the radio and TV productions, making her a forerunner of Tina Fey.  And "Ethel and Albert" was a show about daily life…about nothing, which is what made the show Seinfeld famous.
