May 5th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The ninth annual Cumberland Police Department Summer Youth Camp will take place on Monday, June 13, through Friday, June 17, 2016. The camp will be held at the Salvation Army at 701 E. First Street in Cumberland.

The Cumberland Police Department will once again partner with the Salvation Army in this effort. The camp is open to all Allegany County students entering the sixth, seventh or eighth grades for the 2016-2017 school year. The camp will be held on Monday, June 13 – Friday, June 17 from 8:00 am to 4:00 each day. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for the attendees. Transportation to and from the camp will not be provided.

The mission of this camp is to mentor middle school aged boys and girls, providing them with the knowledge to make smart, healthy and safe decisions in order for them to lead a productive life. There is also the hope that this sparks an interest in law enforcement by receiving knowledge of police work and having an opportunity to participate in police training.
