Preliminary Date Shows Continued Decline In Student Enrollment In County Schools

Although the numbers are not yet official- the preliminary data shows a continuing decline in enrollment in the Allegany County Public School system- with a projected loss of 154 students from last year. The Maryland State Department of Education requires each county school district to report total enrollment by September 30 each year- and is important information as state funding is largely based on those numbers. The state formulates a per-pupil dollar figure which is multiplied by the total enrollment.
