Rural County Coalition Gaining Strength

Frederick County Commissioners President Blaine Young believes a coalition of rural counties will continue to grow in size by the time the next  legislative session rolls around. The Allegany County Commissioners on Thursday got an update on the partnership's progress. Maryland Rural Counties Coalition helped counterbalance the powerful influence of the Big Seven, the state's most populous jurisdictions. With numerous measures that affect local government moving through the, the agricultural communities benefited from a strong collaboration according to Young- who along with Allegany County Commissioners President Mike Mckay- founded the organization.  Young said that the Coalition has made a name for itself among lawmakers from across the state.
