With COVID-19 scuttling plans for a Veterans Day Program at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, WCBC will present a special tribute this morning at 10:30 AM following the Dave Norman Program.
Our salute will feature messages from Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie, along with patriotic music and readings.
At 11 AM, WCBC will broadcast a tolling bell so listeners can take 11 minutes to remember veterans who have passed away. WCBC's Chris Myers will blow Taps downtown at 11:11 AM to conclude the reflection period.
The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs and Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery have approved the salute and those who wish to spend their time at the graveside of a loved one are invited to the cemetery, or to reflect at any cemetery where they may be buried.
