The future of the Washington Street Bridge is not very bright, though the City of Cumberland continues to negotiate with CSX to find a way to repair the bridge that trains damaged eight years ago, resulting in its closing. Mayor Ray Morriss told WCBC that the residents of the area have reason to be upset, as does the city council since they live in the city as well…
“We’re all just as frustrated with the process as the residents of the street are. That’s very hard on us as a council because when we have to give difficult answers, when we have to tell people ‘no,’ because unfortunately that’s just the way things are, it’s a hard thing to do.”
