During last night’s Allegany County Commissioner meeting, the commissioners rejected the individuals the Allegany County Library System recently appointed to fill two board seats.  Trish Morgan with Save the Westernport Library reiterated that ACLS director John Taube was asked to select appointees from Westernport Library and George’s Creek Library, however, those chosen did not meet the criteria…

“It’s about fairness and equality, and we Westernport and we George’s Creek Library area, we deserve representation on that board so that we can have a say about our own libraries.”

Lonaconing Mayor Jack Coburn said the board currently only visits those specific libraries when a board meeting is held there…

“So, how can you stay updated, know what is going on, and you are voting on things?  This is the time we have endlessly told Mr. Taube to please select someone as a representative from each area.  Why he is so determined to go against anything with common logic makes no sense.”
