On Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at 155am, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 block of Park St for the report of a single vehicle MV crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 2009 Saturn Vue had struck and broke a large utility pole, resulting in a power outage in the area. The Cumberland Fire Department responded and transported two passengers from the scene to a nearby medical facility. The rear seat passenger, a 26 year old female from Ridgeley WV, was believed to have life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the crash and suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. It was also discovered that he did not possess a valid drivers licence. As a result, Richard Louis Webb Jr, 50, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Webb was charged with numerous traffic and DUI related charges and later released, pending trial in District Court. The roadway was closed for approximately 6 hours for investigation, clean up, and power restoration. The crash remains under investigation by the Cumberland Police Dept. Crash Reconstruction Unit and future charges are pending. The Cumberland Police were assisted on scene by members of the Allegany County Sheriff's Dept.
