On Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at 1159pm, the Cumberland Police Department responded to Interstate 68 E/B on the crosstown bridge for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer. Upon arrival on scene, officers observed a 2021 Freightliner truck and trailer on its side, blocking the roadway. The driver of the truck, Kumar Mohit, 25, of Roseville CA, was assisted from the wreckage and transported to a nearby medical facility with non-life threatening injuries. Interstate 68 E/B was shut down from LaVale to Cumberland for approximately 7 hours to allow for clean-up of the crash scene. At this time, the crash remains under investigation, speed is believed to be a factor. The Cumberland Police was assisted on scene by the Cumberland Fire Dept, Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Dept, Allegany County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, and State Highway Administration.
