New Tax Break For Seniors Can Be Tricky

September 22nd, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Some new tax changes are now in effect that will effect area residents who are receiving Social Security.  Joe Mullenax of Allegany Business Consulting talked about the new tax break for social security earners.  Mullenax says there are a few strings attached to the change and seniors should pay attention to avoid misunderstanding…

“If you’re receiving Social Security and you’re 62, or 63, or 64, you’re getting no break whatsoever. If you are over 65 and a single person making less than $75,000 or a married couple making less than $150,000, you will get a $6,000 deduction for your age.”
