Emergency Letter Delivered to Governor

October 30th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

WCBC spoke Wednesday with Senator Mike McKay as he was in Annapolis to deliver a letter to Governor Moore regarding the water situation affecting his constituents in Bel Air, Glen Oaks, and Pinto. The letter from the Western Maryland delegation points out the community crisis with rising water and sewer bills and asks the governor to declare a state of emergency. McKay tells WCBC the declaration is required for further AG action to be taken…

“We’ve asked in that letter to support the Attorney General letter that we sent back in February asking him to look at the rates for any kind of price gouging. The AG had communicated back to me that he needed a state of emergency to have that authority.”

The letter is also accompanied by research done by Bel Air residents…

“A poster board of the rates in Bel Air that was presented to us at the meeting of the county commissioners that talked about the outrageous prices that the Bel Air community is paying for water.”
