A bit of local history was shared recently on WCBC’s morning program with Jim Zamagias. A caller from the Fort Hill Rifle and Pistol Club gave some background on the group that was started in 1944. The club which now has 500 members, was originally created to guard certain local areas during World War II…

   

“It was a group of men that were actually like part of a militia during the Second World War that guarded the railroad hub in our area and different federal buildings, and then after the war was over, they enjoyed shooting at the armory so much they wanted to have a place to shoot at of their own.”
